CKC OCR, developed by The Education University of Hong Kong's CKC Centre for the Development of Information Technology in Chinese Language Teaching, serves as a valuable resource for searching the CKC Code and studying Chinese characters. For instance, querying the character "為" yields a comprehensive list of associated CKC codes, including those for variant forms and instant codes such as 000, 3, 34, and 3400.

The CKC Chinese input method employs an appearance-based coding system that encodes characters based on the stroke features found in their four corners. The encoding sequence is designed to follow the shape of the letter "Z," proceeding from the upper left corner to the upper right corner, then to the lower left corner and finally the lower right corner.

Strokes and features of Chinese character components are categorized into ten distinct groups, represented by the digits 0 through 9:

• 0: A left-falling stroke or a stroke with a left turn (丿亅).
• 1: A horizontal stroke or a horizontal rising stroke written from left to right (丨).
• 2: A vertical stroke or a left-slanting stroke (一).
• 3: A dot or a right-falling stroke (丶 乀).
